My work explores cultural differences, and how through dress and body adornment, we portray an image others, this is how we are perceived.

Underneath our exteriors we are all the same, similarities in the colours I have incorporated in my embroidered pieces are the same within many cultures. Yet the design of the stitches is different, geometrics are representational of African designs and florals represent Eastern Europe.

I have produced a series of portrait photography from close friends and embellished with indigenous embroidery from their cultural heritage. The stitches have been placed purposefully to appear as if they are coming from inside their bodies. These patterns represent their cultural heritage, their identity and culture.
